JOB DESCRIPTION: MUSIC COORDINATOR WITHIN THE SAINT STEPHEN FAMILY OF PARISHES IN HAMILTON, OHIO
This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities include:
selecting appropriate liturgical chants, hymns and acclamations as well as providing vocal and musical accompaniment for five Sunday Masses (two on Saturday, three on Sunday), three of which are in English, and two, in Spanish.
doing the same for holydays of obligation, Ash Wednesday, Our Lady of Guadalupe, funerals and weddings.
coordinating choirs and collaborating with other liturgical music ministers.
ensuring regular maintenance of instruments at St. Julie Billiart (baby grand piano and hybrid pipe organ) and St. Peter in Chains (baby grand piano and electronic organ)
knowledge of copyright laws and protocols
working with, and under the supervision of the pastor, who is also the director of worship for the Saint Stephen Family.
Qualifications include:
being a practicing Catholic.
familiarity with Catholic liturgical, musical and pastoral principles and customs.
previous musical experience, education and/or training.
ability to play keyboard, piano and/or organ.
ability, or willingness to learn, to lead music in Spanish.
Other expectations include:
successfully complete all background checks and SafeParish requirements.
collaborates with other music ministers in the Saint Stephen Family.
maintains contact with the Office for Divine Worship in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati.
not publicly oppose the teachings of the Catholic faith nor publicly advocate for any position in conflict with Catholic teaching, or the specific positions of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati or the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, including any publicspeech, demonstration or writing, use of social media or other digital technologies.
